OVERVIEW

I personally encountered God. It was so beautiful and perfect. I was so in love with the Lord. He opened my eyes to many things. Things that don't really matter to me before. I felt like I was a new person. There's joy, peace, and boldness.

Suddenly, in the middle of the journey with my new relationship with the Lord. I was told that I am about to lead and work in the kingdom. I am saved to serve.

Wait, what? Me? I'm fine being just a follower. Do you mean, I have to do what you do? No way. I can't. It's a big responsibility. I'm glad that I knew the Lord better than before. Thanks anyway.

Many people got so overwhelmed with the feeling of having a new relationship with the Lord. However, some didn't really understand what is the mission of Christ when he came down from heaven to earth. Jesus was sent by our Heavenly Father to save the world from sin. However, before He ascended, He gave us a great commission written in:

    MATTHEW 28:19-20

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Amazing! So it means, there's more than that being just a follower.

HERE ARE THE 6 HINDRANCES WHY YOU CAN'T SERVE GOD:

1. SELFISHNESS

You have a lot of alibis! But in reality, the main reason is that you cannot give up your own comfort for others. In order to become a leader, you must become a servant yourself --- a servant leader.

You're too focused on your own dreams, your family, relationships, and career. You think that if you give your time and efforts to serve God's people, you might lose everything.

However, it clearly states in:

    MATTHEW 6:33

"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."

    EPHESIANS 6:7

"Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people."

Remember that God wants to use your life to bring impact to the lives of others. Selfishness might destroy your own dreams and plans, you surely will not succeed without God because apart from Him we are nothing. However, when you obey God's will and you became selfless, God will reward you more than you could ever imagine. The Lord will sustain you and all of your needs.

You might want to assess yourself. If you're not serving God and his people, To whom you serve? Yourself? The world? The enemy?

2. IMMATURITY

I heard a pastor says, "Immature people can't serve God, Maturity is a process, it doesn't just happen."

Well, can you describe an immature person?
  • not fully developed or grown
  • acting in a childish way
  • irresponsible
  • full of pride
These are some and I believe, you can add more to these. Base on the characteristic of an immature person. Do you think, he/she can lead or serve?

A person who does not have enough knowledge about the vision is not fully developed. This person needs more training to better understand what he/she is about to do and why is it important.

On the other hand, come to think of a child who's 1-3 years old, this child cannot take care of his/her own self. The child needs to be fed to live. Same with an immature person, you need milk because you can't take the bread yet. You need milk and you cannot accept bigger responsibility.

This verse explains it clearly:

    HEBREWS 5:12-13

"You have been believers so long now that you ought to be teaching others. Instead, you need someone to teach you again the basic things about God's word. You are like babies who need milk and cannot eat solid food. For someone who lives on milk is still an infant and doesn't know how to do what is right."

    HEBREWS 5:14

"Solid food is for those who are mature, who through training have the skill to recognize the difference between right and wrong."

Truly the Word of God is used for teaching and rebuking us. This simply means that it's not too late for you. God is teaching us today that there's still hope and just allow ourselves to grow and be mature through training. It is really true that maturity does not happen overnight, it's a process. It takes time, but what's important is you will not give up on your calling. Be patient with yourself and believe in yourself. God chose you because He knows you can!

3. LAZY TO PRAY

God reveals so many things to us through prayers. It's two-way communication with the Lord. When we pray, we receive wisdom, direction, vision, anointing, and boldness. Maybe God can't use you because you don't spend time in the presence of the Lord. How can you lead people to Christ if the Holy Spirit is not within you? This is very important. We can't help change other people's lives if, on our own, we can't even pray.

    ROMANS 8:27

"And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit because the Spirit intercedes for God's people in accordance with the will of God."

What are you waiting for! Pray and know that the Holy Spirit will intercede and help you to connect to the Lord. Do not hesitate, just open your heart!

4. HIDDEN MOTIVES

God knows how big is your heart for the souls. This is what I always hear from my leader, It makes me assess myself so many times. Am I really willing? What's my motive for serving God's people? Is it because it's just needed and everyone is doing it? We cannot hide anything from the Lord.

He can't fully use our lives if our heart is not really 100% committed. It says in:

    JEREMIAH 17:10

"I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve."

Know that the Lord will bless you according to what you deserve, It is not too late to pray and ask God to cleanse the motives of your heart. Believe!

5. UNWILLINGNESS

It's hard to force someone to work if that person is not willing. Willingness means the state of being prepared to do something. When you are willing, you will do the work even without someone asking you to do it. There's a sense of initiative, commitment, and excitement in your heart.

6. FEAR

Fear is one of the greatest hindrances to why you can't serve God. You're afraid to speak. You're not enough. You are no good. However, it is said in:

    1 JOHN 4:18 (NIV)

"There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love."

   1 JOHN 4:18 (NLT)

"Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love."

FINAL THOUGHTS

So if you truly experienced God's love and you love the Lord with all your heart. There's no reason for you not to serve Him.

REMEMBER. EVERYTHING WE DO IS OUT OF LOVE.

YOU LOVE YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS, YOU LOVE SOMEONE,
YOU LOVE YOUR FRIENDS AND WANT THEM TO BE SAVE.

DO NOT FEAR. DO NOT BE SELFISH!

START SHARING THE WORD OF GOD WITH OTHERS!

THAT'S REAL LOVE!

PROVERBS 11:30
"AND HE WHO WINS SOULS IS WISE".

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TALK TO THE LORD NOW.

IF YOU'RE A LEADER OR SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO SERVE GOD AND YOU'RE STRUGGLING RIGHT NOW. SURRENDER IT TO THE LORD. JUST HUMBLE YOURSELF TO GOD. OPEN YOUR HEART. ASK HIM TO TAKE AWAY THE HINDRANCES THAT ARE KEEPING YOU FROM SERVING THE LORD.

AMEN AND AMEN.

OVERVIEW

What if you're in the middle of nowhere and no one is there for you. No one sees your pain. Deep down inside you're just trying to be brave because that's what everyone knows about you. On the other side, you're smiling and showing boldness, because you have to. Deep down inside of your heart is a different story.

People tend to be stuck on the old routine, same old dramas. Seems like, moving on is very difficult for you. You cannot accept that things change. And the only thing that is constant is God.

In this situation right now where the world seems different and it is not like the way, it used to be. Sometimes, you just want to go back into your childhood where you are not worrying about anything. You can play and enjoy the world around you.

Me too, sometimes, I just want to become a child again where I'm just so innocent and it's brilliant.

HOWEVER, WE CAN'T GO BACK.

But you know, in the middle of nowhere, when you feel like you're all alone. God is with you. Maybe you can't see Him but He sees you.

That is my good news for you, my friend. God is with you no matter what. All the way from the beginning till the end.

HOW DO YOU MOVE ON WHEN THINGS HAVE CHANGE?

1. ACCEPT THE REALITY

Yes. Acceptance. This is really hard especially when you're still holding on to something. However, nothing is impossible to God.

Accept the fact that you're grown up now. Your not a child anymore. There are people who became part of your life, people come and go. What's important is that they became a beautiful part of your story. You've been to different places, you've experienced many things in life, you've become part of that company, you experience living there, you experience the freedom of your youth, you've met so many people and all will become just memories. Memories to cherish, knowledge gained, and learning that you can bring along the way. Because life isn't finished yet. There's more ahead of you.

You are now in a different state of your life. You don't have to figure it out all. You must accept that things will never be the same again. I understand it's not easy. It will never be.

But it says in:

    ISAIAH 43:18-19

"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up, do you not perceive it?"

2. KEEP THE FAITH

Maybe you're questioning God now. You're asking why this thing happened to you. It's just so fast, things were sweet before and now it's bitter. Or you're full of joy and hope now and suddenly you're sad.

There are things in this world that you cannot explain. There are some questions left unanswered. But when the right time comes, you will surely understand.

It is said in:

    JOHN 13:7

"Jesus replied, 'You don't understand now what I am doing, but someday you will."

    JOHN 16:33

"In this world, you will have trouble, but take heart! I have overcome the world."

That's why we have faith. We have hope. You will not hope anymore if you already have what you wanted.

    JAMES 1:2-3

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance."

    JAMES 1:4

"Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."

3. BE GRATEFUL AND EMBRACE YOUR SEASON

Take time to count your blessings. You'll never know that what you're experiencing is a blessing in disguise. Be thankful that you are safe. That you're still breathing, and that you can still live. Take time, pause, and see the beauty of life.

    1 THESSALONIANS 5:16-17

"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."

   PROVERBS 17:22

"A cheerful heart is a good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones."

Maybe you can't see how blessed you are now because you keep looking back on the things that are gone. Why not focus on the things that you can do and enjoy now. Leave it all to God. God is good. God is working even if you can't see. It is always good to live a life full of gratitude than in hatred and frustrations. And I believe, you already knew it. Appreciate your blessings, small or big and you'll see the difference.

4. PRAY AND TRUST GOD

And at this very moment, God is healing your heart. Allow him to work on the inside of you. Be patient and keep praying. Never stop praying. It might take months, years, or even a decade. But it is because God has a purpose and a perfect plan for you.

One day you'll see, that God will answer what you're praying for, at the right time at the right place, at the right circumstances.

    ROMANS 8:25

"But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently."

    REVELATION 21:4

"He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death, or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

FINAL THOUGHTS

YES, MAYBE THINGS WILL NEVER BE THE SAME.

HOWEVER, THERE'S STILL HOPE.

OUR GOD IS FAITHFUL.

FOR OUR GOD IS THE SAME, YESTERDAY, TODAY, AND FOREVER...

OVERVIEW

I can still remember how cheerful and friendly you are! But the last time I saw you, it looks like there's something wrong. Are you bothered? I miss your smile and the high pitch of your voice whenever you're telling me a story about your exciting day.

What happened? I feel sorry to see you sad and uncomfortable. It seems like you want to isolate yourself from the world. That's so scary!

Ooooooops! It's just me talking to myself most of the time trying to assess what's gone wrong. And maybe at some point, you also relate to it? Hmmm

Let me just ask you a question? What is your response to brokenness? Are you that kind of person who chooses to dwell more on pain and sadness rather than fight over it? And what are you trying to prove to yourself?

    Steve Allen says:

"One of the nice things about problems is that many of them do not exist except in our imagination."

That's right! The more we think, the more we worry. After all, the decision is in your hands. You can choose to either be positive and just leave it to the hands of the Lord, the one who knows everything - God.

TWO SIMPLE WAYS TO OVERCOME BROKENNESS

1. ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU NEED GOD

Accept that you need God's help. You can't do it alone. When you're not praying to God, you are allowing pride to take over. However, pride can't take you anywhere, it will only lead to your own self-destruction. You might hurt yourself more and worst, still no solution to your problems.

However, it is said in:

MARK 5:34

"He said to her, "Daughter your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering."

PSALMS 51:10-11

"Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence, and take not the Holy Spirit from me."

PSALMS 51:12

"Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit."

PSALMS 55:17-18

"Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice. He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: for there were many with me."

Great! That's how great is our God. The moment you humble yourself to Him, you will immediately be freed from your sufferings. The moment you surrender, the more you will find peace. So let go of the burdens and your pride. God is waiting for you, with arms wide open.

2. MAKE A DECISION

We often heard that our happiness is just a matter of choice not chance. Well, I think I agree. Because it happens to me a lot. If you will not choose to be positive, if you're not going to help yourself, no one will do. I mean, yes, your friends and family can encourage you with their uplifting words however if you're not taking it, hmm. Nothing!

It's hard to give advice to someone who is not willing to listen.

You have to decide now. You have to choose happiness and joy from the Lord. Do not lose your hope. This must be your verse:

PSALMS 42:5

"Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise Him again - my Savior and my God."

1 PETER 5:7

"Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you."

FINAL THOUGHTS

Pretty much these are the two things that work best for me when anxiety attacks. Humble heart before the Lord and Faith! Be decisive! Choose joy over sadness.

PLEASE BE REMINDED THAT HEALING TAKES TIME ESPECIALLY WHEN THE DAMAGE WAS DEEP.

HOWEVER, NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE TO JESUS.

JUST GIVE IT TO HIM AND TRUST THE PROCESS.

OVERVIEW

"I'm hopeless. I'm losing my joy. I can't find my purpose. I don't know where to go. I'm tired." A few thoughts that might be running into your mind. Maybe you lost your loved one, your job, or maybe your faith in something.

I'm guessing that it must be really hard for you to wake up every day. I can sense that you lose your motivation in life. You can't move, you have no hope. You feel lost in the middle of your journey in this so-called LIFE.

Well, you're not the only one. I've been there and even up until now sometimes I still feel tired, lost, and discouraged. However, whenever I take a moment to pause, I realized that most of the time, I allow these things to rule over me. My own wrong perspective and my impatience make me really exhausted day by day.

However, it is said in:

    Ecclesiastes 3:1

"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens."

Wow! That's a relief! Maybe you're trying to control everything in your life. Maybe you're hurrying in life trying hard to be successful, trying hard to find your other half, or even trying to get there to the destination that you have imagined and dreamed of for yourself.

I can imagine how really tiring it must be. And that's why you feel lost, tired, and discouraged.

John Mason said in his book Let Go of Whatever Holds You Back:

"You will experience a painful sharpening from time to time, but you'll need it to become better."

Amen to that! So maybe that's the reason why you're experiencing hardships along the way. You're on the right path, the right road, just keep going cause you'll never know, you might be a few steps away from your goals.

BIBLE VERSES WHEN YOU'RE LOST AND DISCOURAGED

Here are some Words from Our Creator that I believe will give you strength to continue and be free from worries and heartaches:

    Proverbs 19:21

"Many are the plans in a person's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails."

    Jeremiah 29:11

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

    John 13:7

"Jesus replied, 'You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand."

    Proverbs 3:5-6

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways submit to Him and He will make your paths straight."

    Romans 8:18

"I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed to us."

FINAL THOUGHTS

And I do hope that you've gain strength and a sense of comfort for what you have read knowing that your best days are just right in front of you. You just have to believe not only in yourself but in God who knows everything.

Now that your hope has been restored and now you understand that God has a perfect plan for your life. You might want to ask me, what's next? In what direction I should go? Yeah, I understand that I must put my trust in the Lord, however, what else I can do, where do I start?

The answer is FAITH!

    Hebrews 11:1

"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance for what we do not see."

I'm not going to tell you to go from this or there. Every one of us here is taking a leap of faith. Only God can give you direction and assurance. One thing I know that I'm in the right direction is when there is:
  • Peace of Mind
  • Confirmation from the Word of God (Written on the Bible)
  • Approval and Support of my parents, mentor, sister, or Godly & trusted friends

That's why friend if you're lost right now and don't know where to go? Take a deep breath and pray. Surrender all to the Lord. Maybe you have a Bible at home, and you don't know what's that for? What's the purpose of it? This is the right time to open it and read it. You'll find hope and direction from there. Peace and joy that no one can explain, in this superficial world.

IT IS OKAY TO FEEL LOST AND TIRED.

IT IS OKAY NOT TO BE OKAY.

GOD KNOWS YOUR HEART.

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

OVERVIEW

I AM AFRAID.
I CAN'T DO THIS.
I'M NOT ENOUGH.

This is one of the biggest lies, the enemy uses to discourage you. He whispers in your ears saying, you are incapable, you are unable and you are weak.

How many times you missed an opportunity just because you are afraid of something.

    Willis Whitney, says:

"Some men have thousands of reasons why they can't do what they want to do when all they really need is one reason why they can."

And it's true! And where is that thousand reasons or doubts coming from? Maybe you are really capable. Maybe you really can!

John Mason, says in his book, Let Go of Whatever Holds You Back:

"You can only accomplish in proportion to what you attempt."

"You're like a rubber band. You must be stretched to be effective."

Wow! I agree. After I've read this, I started to assess myself and it's really a wake-up call to me during those times. Let me share a little bit of my story and how I overcome my fear and finally started to go on the journey that I want to take in my life.

→ I resigned from my job because I started to dream big. I honestly felt that I'm not growing and I am just stuck in there. However it's not really easy to find another job, I'm trying to figure out where I want to go and where I wanna be. I've gone through a lot of interviews and job searching, over and over again. And I ended up discouraged and tired of the process. Fear of the future and disappointment crippled my bones. I can't even make a move. I'm so afraid to take more risk. I even blame God for all my pain and defeat.

I run away from God.

That was my biggest mistake. I thought I can do it on my own but FEAR and DISCOURAGEMENT continued to paralyze me. This is what happened to me:
  • I became more scared and became unable.
  • I wanted to go overseas however I could not even start the application cause I know God's favor is not on me. I am afraid to go.
  • I started to disobey God.
  • I was depressed because I listened to the lies of the enemy.
  • Negativity ruled my mind.
  • I have no peace.
  • The moment you depart from God, you will have fear.
The enemy will start attacking you because you're no longer under God's protection. Because fear is the opposite of FAITH.

FIVE WAYS TO CONQUER FEAR

1. REPENT

Repentance means, "a change of heart"; "a change of direction". It means coming back to God, humbling yourself, and surrendering all to His Will. You have to turn around, 180 degrees.

    ACTS 3:19

"Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord."

God has been so good to me. He leads me back to repentance. Thanks to the Holy Spirit of God. When you're on God's side, you will no longer feel condemned, you'll be brave again to face anything. Your fear will immediately disappear.

2. INCREASE YOUR FAITH

    HEBREWS 11:1

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."

If you have faith in God, you believe that all things are possible. You believe that God is in control and you trust the Lord wholeheartedly. You're not going to be afraid to take a leap of faith as you're following God's Word.

    PSALM 119:105

"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."

3. LISTEN TO ADVICE

    PROVERBS 19:20

"Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future."

    PROVERBS 12:15

"The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice."

Yeah, I know, the view is beautiful and the sky is so peaceful. I felt the same peace and assurance from God at that time. It is true that God uses people to direct us to where He wants us to be. When you listen to your parents or even from a matured Christian or your spiritual parents, you'll gain confidence instead of fear. When you open up to those who are really concerned about your life, you're humbling yourself before the Lord. It is said in:

    EPHESIANS 6:1

"Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right."

4. APPROACH GOD'S THRONE THROUGH PRAYERS

    PSALM 34:4

"I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears."

    1 JOHN 5:14

"This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us."

    PSALM 118:6

"The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me."

You might want to ask yourself these questions:
  • Where do I put my trust and confidence?
  • Whom shall I fear, if God is for me, who can be against me?
Approach God's throne with a joyful heart. God listens to sincere prayer. God moves when we pray. Desire more of Him, surely you'll receive a bonus of God's protection, favor, and a little more unexpected blessings in your life. Prayer is our most powerful weapon. Rebuke fear in prayer and use the powerful name of our Lord, Jesus. That's when your fear will truly disappear. No wonder, those people who pray a lot, worry less. For they know that our Creator is in control.

5. OBEY GOD

    PSALM 128:1

"Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in obedience to him."

    PSALM 119:30

"I have chosen the way of truth; I have set my heart on your laws."

Have you ever feel afraid whenever you disobey any law? It can be sneaking at school or on the road, you drive recklessly and beating the red light, I hope not.

DISOBEDIENCE CAUSES FEAR!

Because you know that when you disobey something, you will have NO PEACE. You'll always feel nervous about being caught.

What more if you disobey God's Law? The Word of God is the ultimate law in our lives. It says in:

    JOSHUA 1:7

"Be careful to obey all the law that my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go."

FINAL THOUGHTS

So our confidence and successes are from God. When we obey Him, He's faithful to grant the desires of our hearts. Remember, He's All-Powerful, All-knowing God.

ALWAYS REMEMBER.......TRUE JOY ABIDES IN OBEDIENCE!

IN OBEDIENCE, YOU'LL GAIN CONFIDENCE!

FEAR WILL DISAPPEAR IN PRAYER.

STAY ON GOD'S SIDE.

AND NOW FEAR HAS NO POWER IN YOUR LIFE! IN JESUS NAME.

AMEN AND AMEN.
